Digital Storytelling at Libraries!

Creating videos for the library is something I really enjoy and it’s something I have a little practice with since libraries are virtual now. I’ve never used WeVideo before, but found it mostly easy to use once I got the hang of it. First, I watched a short Youtube tutorial on how to use it. I always prefer that rather than learning on the fly.

One challenge I encountered was making sure my narration matched with the slides. I had to go back and forth and edit it to make sure everything was in the correct frame. Also, I do notice myself going ‘uh’, despite writing myself a script! I still get nervous even when I have no physical audience.

I can see videos like these being used very regularly with COVID restrictions. I think these short videos are easy and helpful for patrons to view. They aren’t too long where a patron would want to click out of it. Check it out below!
