Crafting a brochure for my patrons

Today, I created an easy brochure for my patrons on how to access digital materials. Now that less people are visiting the library, ebooks and other digital materials are more important than ever!

First, I considered which databases to include. Hoopla and Media on Demand (or Overdrive/Libby) are most popular so I chose to include those. Even though we offer so much more, I had limited space. Plus, they are what I use in my own everyday life so if a patron asks questions I can easily provide assistance.

When crafting the brochure itself, I kept in mind Williams’ ideas of contrast and alignment. I chose two colors, a dark green and mustard since those are my library’s “colors”. They are easily discernible colors. Plus I played between bold and regular type. I also maintained a center alignment because I find that most visually appealing.

Overall, this product will help my patrons because it provides easy steps and screenshots so they can follow along if they are visual learners. I include my contact info in case they need to reach out.
